Auto-Blocking Technology
Automatically block cookies and tracking scripts until users give consent.
What is Auto-Blocking?
Auto-blocking is a category-based system that prevents cookies from being dropped on your website until the user accepts them through the consent banner. This ensures GDPR and DPDPA compliance by preventing any non-essential tracking before explicit user consent.
Category-Based Control
Enable or disable blocking per cookie category (Analytics, Preferences, etc.)
Automatic Enforcement
Once enabled, cookies in that category are automatically blocked until consent
Note: Essential cookies cannot be blocked as they are required for basic website functionality and don't require consent under GDPR/DPDPA.
How It Works
Category Assignment
Each cookie detected on your site is assigned to a category (Analytics, Preferences, Marketing, etc.)
Enable Blocking Toggle
In Banner Design, toggle blocking on for specific categories you want to control
Automatic Blocking
When a user visits your site, cookies in blocked categories will not drop until the user accepts that category
Consent-Based Release
After user accepts a category, cookies linked to that category are allowed to drop on the site

Configuring Auto-Blocking
Go to Banner Design
Navigate to the Banner Design section for your website.
Find Cookie Categories
Scroll to the Cookie Categories & Auto-Block section where you'll see all detected cookie categories.
Enable Blocking Per Category
Toggle the Blocked switch for each category you want to control. Common categories to block:
Analytics
Tracking and measurement cookies
Marketing
Advertising and retargeting cookies
Preferences
User settings and customization
Essential
Required for site functionality
Test Thoroughly
Visit your website in incognito mode, reject consent, and verify that blocked category cookies do not appear in your browser's cookie storage.
Visual Feedback
When auto-blocking is enabled, your banner will show visual indicators to users about which categories are being blocked:
Background is darkened to indicate user must interact with banner first
Shows which categories are currently blocked and awaiting consent
These cookies will be blocked until the user accepts the consent banner.
Viewing Blocked Cookies
Each cookie category shows which cookies are linked to it. To see what's being blocked:
- •Go to Cookie Categories to see all detected cookies
- •Each cookie card shows its category assignment (Analytics, Marketing, etc.)
- •When blocking is enabled for that category, those cookies won't drop until acceptance
Common Blocking Strategies
Strict Compliance (Recommended for GDPR/DPDPA)
Block all non-essential categories until explicit consent:
Balanced Approach
Block tracking/advertising but allow functional cookies:
Testing Auto-Blocking
To verify auto-blocking is working correctly:
- 1.Open your website in an incognito/private browsing window
- 2.Open browser DevTools (F12) → Application/Storage → Cookies
- 3.When the banner appears, check cookies - only Essential should be present
- 4.Click Reject All and verify blocked category cookies don't appear
- 5.Refresh, click Accept All, and verify all cookies now appear
Important: Essential Cookies
Essential cookies cannot be blocked and will always drop on your site. They're required for basic website functionality (authentication, security, load balancing) and don't require consent under GDPR/DPDPA regulations.
Best Practices
- Enable blocking for all non-essential categories (Analytics, Marketing, Preferences)
- Ensure cookies are correctly assigned to their appropriate categories
- Test thoroughly in incognito mode to verify blocking works before going live
- Monitor your analytics after enabling to ensure proper tracking when consent is given
- Combine with "Restrict Page Interaction" for maximum compliance assurance
